Education
Chair: Joanne Lane
The Education Committee will provide ECALSM members with opportunities to increase their subject matter expertise and technical competence in litigation/practice support and electronic discovery. The committee will work in conjunction with other committees as needed. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying topics of interest
- Selecting appropriate instructors (both internal and external to the organization)
- Preparing educational content
- Determining appropriate forums and logistics for sharing the information with members
Career Development
Chairs: Scott Cohen and Sean King
The Career Development Committee will focus on educational activities and events designed to help ECALSM members develop and leverage their leadership skills within the challenging legal environment, recognizing the effects that leadership has on achieving organizational goals. Topics of consideration include:
- Leadership 101 (building a shared vision, leading vs. managing)
- Performance management/development
- Achieving team buy in
- Rewarding exceptional performance
- Taking advantage of step up/step in opportunities
- Dealing with difficult people
Systems and Technology
Chair: Stephen Dooley
The Systems and Technology Committee will provide ECALSM members with an avenue to explore current technology trends. Responsibilities and topics for consideration include:
- Reviewing software applications/solutions for use in handling litigation support needs
- Evaluating the acquisition and implementation of new solutions into an organization
- Discussing current solutions and tools/tips to improve performance, accuracy, and metrics
- Discussing best practices in process, data management and cost efficiency
- Developing related educational content in conjunction with the Education Committee
Membership
Chair: Alston Walker
The Membership Committee will seek to increase the number of ECALSM members, as well as increase participation and retain existing members by working in conjunction with other committees to identify and provide services and programs that meet their needs. Responsibilities include:
- Tracking member status and contact information
- Identifying member interests and needs
- Responding to requests for information regarding membership eligibility and benefits
- Identifying (in conjunction with Public Relations Committee) and utilizing appropriate methods and communication channels for recruitment of new members
Vendor Relations
Chair: Sal Mancuso
The Vendor Relations Committee will coordinate ECALSM’s relationships with vendors, including defining policies related to vendors. Responsibilities include:
- Retaining and coordinating the services of outside vendors as needed
- Overseeing the duties performed by any outside service provider for the association
- Maintaining contact information for service providers
- Responding to vendor requests for information regarding the association and opportunities for vendor involvement with the association
- Researching and presenting findings of fact as they relate to specific service providers and meeting topics
Public Relations
Chairs: Sal Mancuso and Ross Gotler
The Public Relations Committee will oversee all communications, publicity, and notifications on behalf of ECALSM. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying appropriate and effective communication channels and methods
- Devising branding and communication strategies, including creation of a logo and the look, feel, and content of all communications
- Exploring potential events and functions that can serve as marketing opportunities for the association
- Fielding requests for information, including providing answers and/or referring to appropriate contacts on other committees for follow up
- Coordinating with the website manager to plan design for and content of the website
